1945
W. Jorris Beckmann, of Frederick, Md., has retired as a United Church of Christ pastor and resides in an assisted living complex. He cherishes his four daughters, eight grandchildren (five boys, three girls) and one great-grandson.

1959
Karl Schleunes retired in May 2010 from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro after 45 years of teaching German history.

1960
Mary Ann Johansen-Van Leur has been nominated to the Lakeland College Church Relations committee. She also recently received the President's National Volunteer Service Award in recognition of her commitment to making a difference through volunteer service.

1961
Brenda (Pursel) Schleunes continues to write and direct original adaptations of literature and history for the Touring Theatre of North Carolina, which she founded in 1981. The company, now in its 30th year, has performed in 18 states and the District of Columbia. For this, Schleunes was awarded the O.Henry Prize for artistic achievement from the city of Greensboro's Cultural Partnership.

Don Martineau, of Loch Lloyd, Mo., is on the board of I Love Orphans.com. Through his work with this group, Martineau was instrumental in building an orphanage and secondary school in Bukaleba, Uganda. His next project is to build an elementary school.

Calvin Potter, of Sheboygan Falls, a former assistant state superintendent in the Department of Public Instruction, state senator, state representative and teacher at Plymouth High School, was inducted into the Wisconsin Library Hall of Fame on Nov. 4, 2010.

Michael Okray, of Stevens Point, recently published his first book, "Once Upon A Time in Camo," a collection of humorous hunting stories from his trips around the world.

1975
Edward Thomas, of Cambridge, Mass., recently accepted a position as administrative director of the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. BPSI is the largest psychoanalytic society in the United States.

1979
Tom Degnitz recently accepted the call as pastor of Zion's Reformed UCC, Ashland, Pa. Tom and his wife, Lori (Hamilton) Degnitz '82, recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.

1988
Jeff Sauer, of Waupun, was recently hired as principal of Colby High School in Colby, Wis.

1992
Dale Hyska, of Brillion, Wis., wed Julie Pauwels on July 10, 2010, at Heritage Hill State Historical Park in Allouez. The couple resides in Brillion.

1993
April Arvan MEd '95, of Howards Grove, earned her doctorate in education with an emphasis on sports management and leadership from Northcentral University in Prescott Valley, Ariz., in July 2010.

1994
Anthony Grazzini of Cicero, Ill., and Mara Nack '95 celebrated the birth of their first child, Anthony James Grazzini, on Oct. 2, 2010.

John Hartley and Eleni (Chronis) Hartley '95 are pleased to announce the birth of their second son, Reece, on Dec. 29, 2010. Reece joins big brother Brett. The couple moved back to Sheboygan in 2007 after living in Leeds, England, for 11 years.

Angie (Trippler) Quast and husband, Aaron, welcomed their daughter, Hailee, on Sept. 3, 2010. The family lives in Fond du Lac.

1998
Chad Buchmann MEd '09 and his wife, Amy, celebrated the birth of their second child, Lauren Ruth, on January 14. Their son, Brady, is very excited to welcome his new baby sister home. Buchmann is Lakeland's head softball coach.

Karmen Lemke, of Wrightstown, received the 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award presented by Northeast Wisconsin Technical College's Alumni Association. David Munoz has accepted a position as the new principal at Menomonie High School in Menomonie, Wis.

1999
Sue Deuberry, of Ambridge, Pa., married Tom Morgan in Niagara Falls, N.Y., on July 24, 2010.

2000
Dale Kooyenga, of Brookfield, Wis., won the 14th District State Assembly Seat during the 2010 general election and he was sworn in this past January. The district includes the Village of Elm Grove and portions of the cities of Brookfield, Wauwatosa, West Allis and Milwaukee.

Britanni (Jaeckel) Meinnert MBA '10 married Nate Meinnert on Oct. 31, 2009. The couple resides in Sheboygan.

Judy Meyer, of Kiel, is currently teaching four-year-old kindergarten in the Kiel Area School District.

Donna Sykora MBA '07 was recently named director of Michigan operations at Clearesult Consulting.

2001
Laiya (Edwards) Thomas MAC '08, of Milwaukee, married Dwayne Thomas on June 11, 2010. The couple celebrated the birth of their first child, Olivia, on Oct. 28, 2010.

2002
Sally (Rutledge) Bork and Ryan Bork '07 celebrated the birth of their daughter, Abigail Grace, on Jan. 1, 2011. She was the first baby born at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan in 2011. Grandpa Pete Rutledge '69 is very proud of his little Muskie. Sally is Brotz Hall Director and assistant director of student activities at Lakeland.

Kimberly Hewitt married Matthew Aschenbach on Oct. 10, 2010, in Las Vegas.

Nicholas Reichhoff, of Oconomowoc, is principal at Rolling Hills Elementary School in Mukwonago.

2003
Christine (Noack) Clements, of New Holstein, is currently teaching K-4 music in the Kiel Area School District.

Pa Lee Moua, of Appleton, received Fox Valley Technical College's 2010 Outstanding Alumni Award. Moua is assistant dean of students for multicultural affairs at Lawrence University.

Andi (Wilbee) Salmon, of Cedarburg, married Kria Salmon and is working as director of sales for Sage Hospitality.

Steve Vollmer and his wife, Patricia, celebrated the birth of their first child, Gabriel Charles, on May 30, 2010. Steve is art director at Discover Mediaworks, Inc. The family lives in Madison.

2004
Kandi Martin, of New London, is the new director of pupil services and curriculum in the Weyauwega-Fremont School District.

Scott Schneider, of Two Rivers, was recently promoted to fire chief for the Two Rivers Fire Department. Schneider, a 21-year veteran of the department, is responsible for the administration of the TRFD covering supervisory and technical aspects in planning, implementing fire protection and suppression efforts and providing emergency medical services.

2005
Paul Daniels II, of Miami Gardens, Fla., married his middle school sweetheart, Trenese Lightfoot, on Nov. 6, 2009. He is a supervisor of industrial engineering for UPS.

Shane Hansen MBA '08, of Ripon, Wis., recently accepted a position as athletic director at Greendale High School.

Kate Hildebrandt married Michael Baer on Sept. 18, 2010.

2006
Lisa Kallas, of Winneconne, Wis., was recently hired as business manager for Steinhilber, Swanson, Mares, Marone & McDermott of Oshkosh. Kallas is responsible for human resources, marketing, facilities management and finance.

Ryan Maiuri MBA '08, of La Crosse, Wis., will play quarterback for The La Crosse Spartans this year.

Eric Royal, of Berkley, Mich., is college success advisor with the Ferndale School District. He serves as an advisor/mentor for inner-city students who are in college.

Lee Sparks and Erin Helbing '07, of Kalamazoo, Mich., are engaged. They are planning an August wedding. Lee works for USG (United States Gypsum, Co.), and Erin is a sales executive with the Kalamazoo Gazette and MLive.com.

Jason Tschudy, of Slinger, Wis., is teaching fifth and sixth grade and physical education at St. Gregory Catholic School in St. Nazianz.

2007
Heather Groh, of Elkhart Lake, married Rich Porath on Nov. 6, 2010. Groh is currently employed by CESA 7, working at New Holstein Elementary School as a teacher's aide.

Michael Jarosinski and Danielle Ristow '10 of Sheboygan are engaged. The couple is planning a June 2011 wedding.

Jodie Liedke, of La Crosse, was named 2010 Faculty Member of the Year at Globe University's La Crosse campus. She is a general education instructor, teaching composition, literature and film. She also created and advises Globe La Crosse Writers Write (GLUWW), a student creative writing club, and she started Globe's Writing Across the Curriculum program.

Melissa (Torres) Nickel of Hilbert and her husband welcomed a son, Alexander, in August 2010.

Sarah Paluch of Oconto Falls married Trevor Vervoren on Sept. 11, 2010.

Angela (Ludens) Reindl and husband, Ryan, welcomed their third child, Andrew Paul Reindl, on Sept. 23, 2010. Andrew joins siblings Daniel and Amalia.

2008
Jason Bins, of Green Bay, was recently hired as varsity football coach at Freedom High School in Freedom, Wis.

Jennifer Hoffman, of Carol Stream, Ill., is engaged.

Ryan Holm was elected to the Delta County Board of Commissioners in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in November. He took office in January 2011. Holm is a fourth grade teacher at James T. Jones Elementary School in Gladstone, Mich.

Travis Miller and Brooke Harrison '10, both of Sheboygan, are engaged to be married. The couple is planning a June 2012 wedding.

2009
Zach Buchman and Amy Christenson '08 were married on Aug. 28, 2010. Lakeland alumni who were part of the wedding party included: Megan Stock '08 MBA'10 and Peter Worth '09. Zach is a teller at The Equitable Bank. Amy is an accountant for Badger Meter. The couple lives in Wauwatosa.

Matt Holm and Kelly Hopfinger '08 were married on Sept. 4, 2010. Lakeland alumni who were part of the wedding party included: Jessica Hopfinger '10, Ashley Falkenthal '09, Sophi Kuehl '08, Ryan Holm '08, Kevin Anderson '07 and Brent Miller '09. Matt is a material planner/scheduler at Kohler Co. Kelly is also at Kohler Co. working as an area associate to the sanitary marketing department. The couple lives in Sheboygan.

Lori Sass and Brian Kaufman '06 MBA '09 were married on Sept. 18, 2010 at First English Lutheran Church in Appleton. Lakeland alumni who were part of the wedding party included: Kari Schneider '09, Reed Stratton '04 and Brett Anschutz '07. Lori is an advancement specialist at Lakeland, and Brian is an accountant at Laminations in Appleton. Brian also serves on the LCAA Board of Directors.

Tory Sailer, of Wisconsin Rapids, recently graduated from U.S. Army basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.

2010
Katie (Sixel) Schueppert of Green Bay married Rocky Schueppert on May 6, 2010. Katie Sternweis, of Chippewa Falls, has been hired as the new UW-Extension agriculture agent in Dunn County. Sternweis specializes in agricultural economic and business development.

Gina Weiss, of Elkhart Lake, is engaged to Derek Feldmann. The couple is planning an August 2012 wedding.
