- ABOUT LAKELAND

Stephen Gould was named President Emeritus Thursday by the Lakeland College Board of Trustees. The trustees unanimously approved the honor as part of their May meeting.
Gould is retiring on May 31 after serving Lakeland for 42 years in a number of roles, including president since 1998. This new honor begins on June 1. He was named professor emeritus of German by Lakeland's faculty earlier this spring.
The resolution adopted by the trustees notes several of Gould's career accomplishments, including record growth of the college's enrollment and endowment fund and the more than $20 million in construction and upgrades to the campus during his presidency.
