Music Minor SAP

Most, but not all, students who pursue the church music minor are music education or music performance majors. These students continually make the kind of music that prepares them for job as church musicians. Among the most popular courses offered in this minor is Handbell Ensemble (MUS 227). Exceptional students may serve as student conductors of Lakeland’s Schilcutt Handbell Ensemble. Some students write arrangements for bells and experience the thrill of conducting a premiere performance of their own work. Students earning this minor also work with the conductor of the Lakeland Singers to plan worship music sung by the Singers at area churches. One student is annually named Music Coordinator of Lakeland Chapel services and several will serve as Chapel Musicians. Throughout the year Lakeland students also provide music for area weddings and funerals.
