Alicia Helion

Alicia Helion
Alicia Helion works hard to motivate students both in and out of the classroom. Alicia joined Lakeland's faculty in 2007, and she's always finding ways to involve students in her research, providing those students with unique, real-world experiences. Her current research interests concern racial and ethnic disparities in healthcare, and her work has taken her to Uganda, Kenya, and Mozambique in Africa and Cambodia and South Korea in Southeast Asia. She recently returned from a trip to Mumias in rural Kenya where she conducted HIV prevention workshops for people with disabilities and workshops on nutrition, medication adherence, and stress reduction for people who are currently living with HIV.
