Master of Arts in Theology

Classroom

In the 1840's, German immigrants traveled to the Sheboygan area to flee from religious controversy. By 1862, they had built Mission House, a combined academy-college-seminary. The school provided training in the liberal arts followed by a traditional seminary curriculum. Today, Mission House goes by the name of Lakeland College, yet the history of the College lives on in its theology program.

Lakeland College offers a fully accredited graduate program in theology leading to the degree of Master of Arts in Theology. The program is designed to provide a basis of continuing education towards an M.Div. or Ph.D., or to become the theological core of a comprehensive training program leading to various forms of "associate ministry."

Course Calendar

Courses are offered in rotation so that enrolled students are able to complete degree requirements in approximately three years. Regular core classes meet at Lakeland College once a week, usually Tuesday or Thursday evenings, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. For a current schedule, call the Theology Office at 920.565.1538, or e-mail darlingca@lakeland.edu.

Getting Started

Call the Theology Office for information on current course offerings and to request an admissions form. Return the form with the required small deposit to secure your place in the class(es) of your choice. Request a certified baccalaureate transcript to be sent to us by your alma mater. That's it. We'll do the rest.

The Master of Arts in Theology (M.A.T.) graduate degree is currently offered at the Lakeland College Sheboygan Center, with selected courses also offered online:
