General Requirements
Upon completion of the requirements
for the Bachelor of Arts degree through
Lakeland College OnlineSM
,
each student will have:
- earned at least 120 semester hours of college credit, with a minimum of 36 semester hours having been earned through Lakeland College;
- satisfied the requirements of at least one academic major;
- completed the General Studies requirements; and
- maintained a cumulative 2.0 grade-point-average in both the major and in all coursework taken at Lakeland College.
General Studies Requirements
Lakeland College's liberal arts component enables students to develop
the necessary skills and knowledge to:
- communicate clearly,
- inquire methodically,
- evaluate rationally, and
- reason validly.
These skills are developed through courses in:
- Basic Studies, which focus on communication skills;
- Distributional Studies, which develop knowledge in areas outside
the major; and
- Interdisciplinary Studies, which encourage the integration of
knowledge and values.

Degree Requirements
Accounting
The Accounting program prepares students for positions in business
and industry. A graduate who has completed the Lakeland accounting
major and a few specified additional courses will qualify to sit
for the CPA and CMA examinations. Check out our CPA Prep Course.
Accounting includes the examination, organization, management and
design of accurate recording and reporting procedures of financial
and business transactions. Specializations in this area include
management accounting, tax accounting, cost accounting, and internal
auditing.

Business Management
Students who wish to be generalists in business find that Lakeland College's Business Management program meets their needs. Upon graduation, students will have developed an understanding of:
- the American and world economic systems
- quantitative and qualitative measures of business and economic conditions
- human behavior and resource allocation
- ethical and legal tenets by which business entities relate to
one another and society
Business Management encompasses the coordination,
implementation, promotion, supervision, and direction of the activities of organizations and individuals. Effective management constitutes the backbone of strong economic, political, and social systems at all levels.

Computer Science
The study of computer science focuses on the application, programming,
and effectiveness of computers, computer materials, and computer
equipment. It includes the management, analysis, and dissemination
of information via the computer.
A major in computer science provides for the ability to manage constant
change, to analyze and make appropriate decisions to solve problems,
and to organize and think logically. This major offers a sound basis
for careers in information technology, business applications programming,

Specialized Administration
Students who have completed an Associate of Arts degree in an approved
technical field can complete their Bachelor of Arts degree through
Lakeland College's Specialized Administration program.
Since Associate of Arts degree holders have already received theoretical
and practical information in a technical field, the Specialized
Administration program through Lakeland College concentrates on
a combination of liberal arts coursework and a core of business-related
courses. These courses are selected to encourage the integration
of skills, knowledge, and values in methodical, rational approaches
to problem solving.

thus, some elective coursework might be required to reach 120 credits.
