Muskies Take Second at LMC Championship, Rutlin Named Rookie of the Year

The Lakeland men's tennis team took second at the Lake Michigan Conference Championships this past weekend, and freshman Matt Rutlin was honored as LMC Rookie of the Year.
Lakeland got a second place finish from sophomore Devin Doyle in No. 5 singles and three third place finishes from Rutlin and seniors Nick Dulmes and Brian Kaufman.
Rutlin and Josh Larson teamed up for a third place finish in No. 1 doubles, and Dulmes and Lee Sparks also brought home third in No. 2 doubles.
Concordia captured its seventh straight title with 33 points, winning all singles and doubles championships. Lakeland came in second with 13 points, just one ahead of MSOE. Marian finished in fourth with eight points.
Rutlin, a native of Wisconsin Rapids, went 2-1 in conference singles matches, playing all at No. 1, during the regular season.
