After having to reschedule the match against MSOE numerous times because of weather, the Lakeland women's tennis team ended up dropping a touch match at Howards Grove High School, 5-4.
"This was a tough loss to take," said head coach Mike Devaney. "We won three matches handily. Five of the other six matches were close, but we won only one of those."
Sarah Czuratis moved up to # 1 singles and won 6-0, 6-0. Andrea Schuchart won her second consecutive conference match 6-0, 6-2 at # 6 singles, and Britanni Kazik and Natsumi Kobayashi won their #3 doubles match 8-2. Mary Stockman won at # 3 singles in a superset tiebreaker 10-4 after splitting the first two sets. Two of the losses were in the #1 and # 2 doubles, both of which were decided by tiebreakers.
Lakeland finishes its LMC schedule on Saturday, Oct. 1 in a match against defending champion Wisconsin Lutheran.
