Lakeland football hosts its first conference home game of the season as the Eureka Red Devils visit Taylor Field on Saturday after the Muskies opened the conference season with a 45-7 win over Benedictine last week.
In that game, Ryan Maiuri passed for 168 yards and two touchdowns while adding 95 yards rushing and another touchdown.
Sophomore MacArthur White enjoyed a breakout game receiving, catching five Maiuri passes for 105 yards and both touchdowns, while freshman Brandon Erdman rushed for 128 yards and one touchdown.
The defense was also stellar, holding Benedictine to just 92 yards total offense. Thirty-three of those came on Benedictine's only touchdown drive after recovering a muffed punt return.
Eureka also won its first conference game last week, 32-13 over Concordia-River Forest. Red Devil quarterback Shaun Manning completed 28 of 49 passes for 341 yards and three touchdowns, but also tossed three interceptions.
The Red Devil offense racked up 454 yards, while its defense held CURF to 205 yards.
Last year's meeting between the Muskies and Red Devils saw Lakeland shut out Eureka, 48-0.
Lakeland's offense gained an astounding 657 yards, including 473 rushing, led by Aaron Barrie, who led the team in rushing with 152 yards on 16 carries.
The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
