Muskies Fall To Lawrence
Athletics - posted on 3/11/2006
Although men's tennis coach Ben Oestreich thought his team improved from their first match of the season, they still were unable to emerge with a victory, falling to Lawrence, 6-1, on Saturday.
"The rallies were more consistent and we made them earn more of the points, which was a goal heading in to this match," said Oestreich.
Lakeland's lone victory came in the No. 3 singles match, where senior Nick Dulmes fought off a cramping right hand to take the match 2-6, 6-4 (10-8).
In No. 2 doubles, Dulmes and sophomore Devin Doyle took Travis Fondow and Thomas Romano to a tie-break, but eventually lost 8-8 (7-4).
The Muskies host their first home match on Sunday, March 19, against Carroll at noon.
