Tennis Falls To Carroll
Athletics - posted on 3/19/2006
The Lakeland men's tennis team showed ever more progress in its third match this season, but could not come away with a win, falling to Carroll College 6-1 on Sunday.
Senior Nick Dulmes was the lone winner for the Muskies, winning his No. 3 singles match against John Krewer, 7-6(7-4), 3-6(10-8).
"Nick again went the distance in singles" said Lakeland men's tennis coach Ben Oestreich. "His match lasted over two hours before he finally won a back and forth 10 point super tie-break 15-13. He achieved match point seven times before getting over the hump and finishing off Krewer."
In No. 5 singles, senior Lee sparks also played well in his first match after the wrestling season, but fell to Carroll's Ryan Bly 6-4, 6-3.
"Lee played well in his first match back" said Oestreich. "He had one practice to prepare himself."
The Muskies (0-3) will next face Lake Forest on Sunday, March 26, in a 1 p.m. match.
