Lakeland College is having a party, and you are invited!

Lakeland will be celebrating the successful completion of its record-setting Legacy for Lakeland campaign and inducting three former athletes into the Hall of Fame this weekend.

Friday night, three new faces will be added to the Lakeland Athletic Hall of Fame: Rick Meyer, class of 1987; Mark Holzman, class of 1991; and Deb (Reindl) Gabriel, class of 1993.

Meyer was a baseball standout for the Muskies, Holzman was a two-sport star in basketball and baseball and Gabriel starred on the softball diamond and also played basketball.

The big weekend continues on Saturday, Oct. 8, as the college hosts a community-wide celebration that will includes tours of the new buildings that resulted from the Legacy campaign, free lunch and the Homecoming football game.

"At $15 million, this was the biggest campaign in the college's 143-year history," said Lakeland President Stephen Gould. "Since the generosity and charity of many local donors resulted in our success, what better way to celebrate than throwing one of the biggest parties in school history and inviting everyone?"

The college will provide tours from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. of the expansion of the Todd Wehr Athletic Center, which includes a new gym and fitness center, the college's new residence hall and the changes to the interior of the Lucius P. Chase Science Center.

Free lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The football team faces MacMurray at Taylor Field at 1 p.m., and admission to the game is free.
