Athletics - posted on 10/11/2005
Tired of losing your husband or boyfriend to football every Sunday because you just don't understand the game? Want a better idea of what your son is experiencing on the football field?
The Lakeland College football team will host Football 101 for Women on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the David and Valerie Black Room in the Laun Center on Lakeland's campus.
The cost is $25 for adults and $15 for students, which includes a football playbook, a Lakeland football t-shirt, a free ticket for Lakeland's Oct. 29 home football game, appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks. There also will be various giveaways and a cash bar.
Space is limited to the first 75 people.
The evening will be run by Lakeland head football coach Jim Zebrowski and members of his coaching staff. The program will break down the basics of the game, with the goal of giving everyone a better appreciation for football.
"We're going to talk football, but most of all we're going to have some fun," Zebrowski said. "This will especially be helpful for any moms who have sons playing high school football, and they want to understand more about the game."
Participants will learn more about offense and defense, watch some game film, form a huddle and learn what happens in a huddle, hear from the team's athletic trainer and see how much gear and pads it takes to play.
Anyone interested in participating can mail checks payable to Lakeland College Football to:
Coach Jim Zebrowski, Lakeland College, P.O. Box 359, Sheboygan WI 53082.
Anyone with questions can contact Zebrowski at (920) 565-1246 or
