Blaine Hornes Nets Special Teams IBFC Player of the Week Honors

Lakeland College senior defensive lineman David Benton earned a pair of honors this week as he is one of four defensive linemen nationally on the D3football.com team of the week, and he was named Illini-Badger Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

The Ashtabule, Ohio, native tallied four solo tackles and five assists in the Muskies' victory over MacMurray on Oct. 8. Benton helped the Muskies pressure the quarterback and he finished with four sacks for a total of 29 yards. He also assisted on another tackle for a loss. The senior capped off his big day with an 18-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Also gaining honors this week is freshman linebacker Blaine Hornes, who was named Illini-Badger Football Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. The Neenah native blocked a punt that was recovered for a touchdown.

Lakeland (4-2, 3-0 IBFC) will travel to face Concordia, Wis., on Oct. 15 to face the only other undefeated team in the IBFC.
