Lakeland College Soccer Teams to play at Hoarce Mann Soccer Field 9/24

Athletics - posted on 9/23/2004

The Lakeland College men's and women's soccer teams will bask in the glow of the lights at Sheboygan's Horace Mann soccer fields Friday night, Sept. 24.

Lakeland will host Carthage College for a women's game at 6 p.m. and a men's game at 8 p.m.

"Playing at Horace Mann in Sheboygan gives us the opportunity to play in front of our local supporters in a great soccer environment," said Lakeland coach Marc Colwell.

"Over the years, we have had some talented players on both our men's and women's teams from the Sheboygan County area. There is a lot of talent in the area, and I would like to continue that tradition."

The Lakeland men's team has five players from Kiel, including sophomore forward Scott Kress, who already has set Lakeland records for career goals, goals in a season, goals in a game, goals scored in consecutive games and points in a season.

Lakeland's men are 3-4-1 this season, including the program's first-ever win over UW-Oshkosh, a NCAA Final Four participant a year ago.

The women's team is 3-4. They are led by senior forward Amanda Smith, who last season was named LMC player of the year and is a three-time first team all-LMC honoree.
