Catch This - Conference Races Heating Up As Weather Gets Colder
Athletics - posted on 10/17/2005
The Lakeland fall sports season is winding to a close and this week would be a great week to catch some of your favorite fall events before it's too late.
On Tuesday Oct. 18, the women's volleyball team will be playing host to Wisconsin Lutheran - just one of only two more home matches this season. The Muskies will be trying to hold on to second place in the LMC, and they need your support in what is always a tough matchup with rival WLC.
On Saturday, Oct. 22, it's a full day for Lakeland fans as the football team looks to continue its march towards the NCAA playoffs for the first time in school history when they take on Concorida, Ill., at 1 p.m. Also, the men's and women's soccer team will be closing out the LMC regular season with games against MSOE on senior day. Senior day is always a special day for our seniors, and we invite you to join them in celebrating their accomplishments over the past four seasons. The women get started at 1 p.m., while the men will follow at 3:30 p.m.
While the weather outside is getting colder and the fall season is drawing to a close, the conference races are just heating up. The volleyball team has won nine straight LMC matches and is hoping to grab an NCAA Tournament berth for the third straight year, football is looking for its first-ever playoff berth and both soccer teams are near the top of the conference and are vying for LMC postseason tournament positioning. Needless to say, with all of the success, it has been a great fall at Lakeland, and we encourage you to come out this week and cheer our athletes as they fight for NCAA appearances.
