The Muskies traveled to La Crosse on Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22 for the La Crosse tournament. The Muskies left Lacrosse with a 2-2 record in the tournament. The Muskies defeated Loras 3-2 (30-21, 19-30, 20-30, 30-26 and 16-14) and Carroll College 3-0 (30-22, 30-25 and 30-22) but dropped matches to Augustana 3-2 (19-30, 30-24, 30-28, 22-30 and 12-15) and UW-La Crosse 3-0 (17-30, 12-30 and 22-30).
In the first match of the tournament Lakeland defeated Loras 3-2. Senior Danielle Duranceau tallied 19 kills to lead the Muskies offense. Duranceau looked to freshman Jessica Sparling to assist her as Sparling lead the team with 29 assists. Senior Sarah Buechel spearheaded the defensive effort with 18 digs.
In the second match on Friday Lakeland fell to Augustana 3-2. Three players, sophomore Ashley Domask (17), Duranceau (14) and senior Nikki Boeckh (11) led the Muskies attack as they tallied double digits in kills. Once again these Muskies looked to the sets of Sparling as she racked up 48 assists.
On Saturday, Lakeland started the day with a difficult 3-0 loss to UW-Lacrosse. Senior Heather Heberlein notched 10 kills, while senior Lana Neuman recorded 15 assists. On defense freshman Danielle Swindell led the team with 13 digs.
In the final match of the tournament for the Muskies defeated Carroll College 3-0. Heberlein tallied 10 kills, while Swindell notched 13 digs for the second straight match.
The Muskies will be back in action on Senior Day, Tuesday, Oct. 25 when they play host to Dominican at 7 p.m.
