Lakeland senior Heather Heberlein was been named Honorable Mention on the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Midwest All-Region team for the second straight season.

"It is an honor being named and recognized as one of the top 18 players in the region," said Heberlein. "It is just a really great feeling."

Heberlein was also named the most valuable player of the Lake Michigan Conference for the second straight year. This season, the Kiel native led the team in kills with 402 and had 59 blocks. The right side hitter averaged 3.53 kills per game this season, which is third best in Lakeland history. For her career, Heberlein finished with 1,067 kills, fifth best in Lakeland history.

"I think it is an honor that we are getting people on the All-Region team," said head coach Chad Schreiber. "I also think it is a little bit of a shame that she wasn't an All-Region player, but only on Honorable Mention. I think she is definitely worthy of being in the top 12,and I think she showed that by the way she played in the NCAA Tournament against one of the top teams in the region. She couldn't have done more to try and carry us to a win in the way she played. She is certainly one of the top players in the Midwest."
