Catch This - Lakeland Women's Basketball Team Making History
Athletics - posted on 11/14/2005
The Lakeland women's basketball team will be making history this weekend - and we hope you all can join us!
The Muskies will play the first-ever basketball game in the new Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium as part of Lakeland's 2005 Tip-Off Tournament.
Lakeland faces Cornell College at 6 p.m. Friday, followed by Clarke College and Lawrence University at 8 p.m. The losers play Saturday in the consolation game at 2 p.m., and the winners play for the tournament championship at 4 p.m.
The first 250 fans that enter the gym beginning at 5:40 p.m. will receive a free "Play with Grace" tournament t-shirt, or a purple "It's About How You Live" wrist bracelet.
The bracelet is your way to show support for the new Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Home & Palliative Care Retreat, which will become Sheboygan County's first residential hospice home. It is currently in the initial phase of development.
Located just outside Sheboygan Falls on Hwy 28, the residence will be sited adjacent to the Richardson property, ensuring a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere for years to come.
The plan allows for an 18 bed facility (28,000 sq.ft.) in a quiet, peaceful, garden-like environment. Currently, terminally ill patients in Sheboygan County with insufficient caregiver support in the home must turn to hospitals or nursing homes instead of a residential or short-term inpatient facility that can bring quality hospice services to them 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Sharon S. Richardson Hospice home will provide residential, acute, and respite care to support Sheboygan County's end of life care needs.
Joe Richardson II, who lost his wife, Sharon, to cancer in 2004, along with a team of dedicated individuals, is committed to bringing a hospice home to Sheboygan County.

In addition to the women's basketball tournament, the wrestling team hosts the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. Last Saturday, the Muskies handed head coach Pete Rogers his first-ever victory over a state school when they defeated UW-Eau Claire at the Lakeland Duals.
The men's basketball team gets its season underway on the road with a game at Lake Forest, Ill., at 7 p.m.
