Lakeland head football coach Jim Zebrowski has been named the 2005 Wisconsin Private College Coach of the Year.
"It is an honor," said Zebrowski, who recently completed his third season at Lakeland. "This is a team award. All the accolades go to the coaching staff and the players. They are the ones that make these awards possible. We had a very successful season, and this award recognizes what we accomplished as a team."
Zebrowski led the Muskies to their second straight Illini-Badger Football Conference championship with a 7-0 record and their first-ever NCAA Division III Playoff berth, the first trip to the postseason in 71 years of Lakeland football. The Muskies finished the season 8-3. This is the first time that Zebrowski has earned this honor. He was also named the Coach of the Year in the IBFC for the second consecutive season late last week.
The Wisconsin Private College Coach of the Year award is sponsored by the Wisconsin High School Football Coaches Association, which annually names the Coach of the Year and Player of the Year from the Wisconsin private colleges. The voters are the coaches from the private colleges in the state of Wisconsin that also belong to the WHSFCA.
