Lakeland Falls to Elmhurst In Season Opener
Athletics - posted on 3/4/2006
The Lakeland College men's tennis team opened the 2006 season on Saturday, falling to Elmhurst 7-0.
"The Elmhurst team played a very solid match while we struggled all night with our consistency in every area," said first year head coach Ben Oestreich. "It is difficult to compete at this level without consistency."
Freshmen Matt Rutlin and Josh Larson fell, 8-2, in #1 doubles in what was the Muskies' closest match of the day.
"We will need to be tougher mentally to come back when we get down a game or two," Oestreich said. "Tonight we were not able to do that."
Lakeland's next match will be on Saturday, March 11 when they travel to Appleton to face Lawrence.
