Softball Voted to Finish Fifth in Preseason LMC Poll

The Lakeland softball team has been picked to finish fifth in the Lake Michigan Conference according to the preseason coaches' poll released Tuesday.
Lakeland, which finished 10-27 overall last season, 4-10 in the LMC, totaled 46 points in the annual poll, voted upon by the eight member-school coaches.
Marian, who finished second in the conference last season, locked up first place in the poll with six first place votes. Concordia, defending champion Edgewood, and Wisconsin Lutheran were picked second, third and fourth, respectively, and each received a first place vote.
Alverno was voted to take sixth, followed by LMC-newcomer Dominican, while MSOE and Maranatha round out the poll.
Lakeland opens its season on its spring trip in Arizona against Minot State University on Sunday. Game time is scheduled for 10 a.m.
