The Lakeland Muskies women’s basketball shot just 20 percent in the first half and only hit 12 shots from the floor in a 53-40 loss to the Sabres of Marian College Tuesday night.
The Muskies bad shooting got them off to a slow start, but defense kept them in the game for the first half, down only 10 , 25-15. In the second half, it was all Sabres, as Marian would pull away and build a 19 point lead at the 4:11 mark. The lead was too much for the Muskies to overcome, falling to the Sabres by 13.
Sara Langenhorst was the only Muskie to score in double figures, with 10 points and seven rebounds. Renee Steinert was just 1-12 from the floor and scored five of here seven points from the charity stripe. Christy Wilson of Marian led all scorers with 24 points and six rebounds.
The Muskies (13-7, 7-2) will look to rebound against Edgewood College a week from tonight, February 1st in Madison. Edgewood is the only other team to have defeated the Muskies in LMC action, a 60-54 decision on December 11th at Lakeland. Game time is scheduled for 7pm at the Todd Wehr Edgedome in Madison.
