Muskies Fall to Edgewood Eagles
Athletics - posted on 2/1/2005
Renee Steinert had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Muskies, and Sara Langenhorst added 10 points and five rebounds, but it was not enough as the Eagles of Edgewood College would pick up the win and the season sweep of the Muskies 47-35.
Poor shooting plagued the Muskies, who shot just 25 percent from the floor in the first half and 27 percent in the second half, while Edgewood shot 44 percent in the second half to power past the Muskies. The Eagles out-rebounded the Muskies 43-32 and had four more steals.
Despite poor shooting, the Muskies built a five point lead in the first half, only to see the Eagles fight back and take a three-point lead at the break, 17-14. In the second half, the Muskies tied the game at the 18:21 mark, but then it was all Eagles. The Muskies would only get to within three, but Edgewood would again turn up the heat and cruise to the easy 12 point win.
Jordane Kittoe of Edgewood led all scorers with 20 points and eight rebounds.
The Muskies will next return to action this Saturday, February 5th when they take on Wisconsin Lutheran College in the first half of a men’s and women’s double-header against WLC. Game time is set for 1:00pm.
