Muskies tabbed co-favorite in preseason IBFC poll

The Lakeland College football team was tabbed among the favorites in the annual Illini-Badger Football Conference preseason coaches poll.
Lakeland, the two-time defending IBFC champions, and rival Concordia, Wis., finished in a tie for first in the IBFC preseason coaches poll with nine points each.
Aurora (21) edged out Greenville (23) for the third spot. MacMurray was fifth in the balloting with Benedictine sixth. Eureka and Concordia Chicago tied for the final position.
The Muskies open the season Sept. 2 at UW-Whitewater, which is ranked No. 2 in the nation in two national Division III preseason polls after losing in the national championship game a year ago. Lakeland's home opener is Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. against Carthage , the first of four straight home games. The Muskies host CUW for their homecoming game on Oct. 21.
Since 2003, both Lakeland and CUW have 19-2 records in the IBFC.
