The women's volleyball team (18-17) had a tough weekend at the UW-River Falls Trick or Treat Tournament on Oct. 27 and 28, dropping all four of their matches.

The Muskies were unable to take a game all weekend, as they were defeated, 3-0, by all four of their opponents, losing to the host Falcons and Millikin University on Friday and to UW-Eau Claire and Bethel College on Saturday.

Sophomore outside hitter Heidi Kramer led the team with 12 kills and two blocks against River Falls, while junior defensive specialist Rachel Young was digs leader with 13, followed by freshman outside hitter/defensive specialist Brittanie Paulus with 12 digs of her own. Sophomore setter Jessica Sparling tallied 29 assists and two aces.

Junior outside hitter Ashley Domask and freshman middle hitter Kim Linger teamed up as hitting leaders against Millikin, going for nine kills apiece. Domask also recorded 11 digs, just one shy of Paulus' 12 dig effort.

Saturday proved to be no better for Lakeland, as the squad was defeated by UW-Eau Claire (30-19, 30-21, 30-16 and Bethel College (30-22, 30-21, 30-22).

Kramer knocked down eight kills to lead the offensive drive against Eau Claire, also adding three blocks, while Paulus topped the digs column with eight. Young also tallied a team-high three service aces.

Against Bethel, Domask and Linger tied as hitting leaders once again with 10 kills apiece, and Paulus continued her team-leading defensive efforts with 12 digs. Sparling tallied a weekend-best 33 assists and added three aces.

Lakeland will look to get back on track quickly, as the No. 3 seeded Muskies will host the opening-round match of the first Northern Athletics Conference Tournament against No. 6 seeded Maranatha Baptist on Tuesday, Oct. 31. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
