Muskies Prepare to Face Concordia Minn.

Athletics - posted on 11/10/2004

The Lakeland women’s volleyball team heads to UW-La Crosse for the NCAA Regional Tournament for its first round match-up Thursday with Concordia, Minn. This is the third straight year the Muskies will appear in the NCAA Tournament.

“Our biggest goal is to advance,” said Lakeland head coach Chad Schreiber. “We have made it (to the tournament) the past three years and have never made it to the second round. We face our toughest challenge in our first round match this year. This regional looks to be very competitive.”

The Muskies, who won a trip to the tournament by defeating Wisconsin Lutheran in the Lake Michigan Conference championship game, are currently 23-13.

Concordia defeated Carleton College in the MIAC conference tournament to advance to the NCAA Tournament. Concordia was ranked #3 in the NCAA DIII Central Region behind Carleton and Washington U. before defeating Carleton. The Cobbers are also ranked #15 in the CSIV/AVCA poll.

The winner of the Lakeland/Concordia match will go on to face the #2 seed UW-Stout on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
