The Lakeland men's tennis team dropped a close Northern Athletics Conference match to Marian College, 5-4, on Tuesday, Apr. 24, in Fond du Lac, Wis.
Although sophomore Matt Rutlin and freshman Andre Glass continued to shine by winning some of the top-seeded matches of the day, it was not enough to put the Muskies (2-8, 2-4 NAC) in front. Glass and Rutlin each won their No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, respectively, as Glass took his match over Tyler Leinweber fairly easily with 6-3, 6-1 scores. Although Rutlin had to fight a little harder for his victory, he was able to pull out the win over Brian Ottman, 6-4, 5-7, 13-11.
Glass and Rutlin also teamed up to capture the Muskies' solo win in the doubles matches, taking the No. 1 match, 8-2, over the Sabres' Lucas Nieman and Leinweber.
Freshman Drazen Cvijanovic tallied the squad's only other win of the match in singles play, taking the No. 4 match, 6-4, 6-4.
Lakeland will wrap up its season with this weekend's NAC Tournament in West Bend, Wis. Match times TBA.
