Senior defensive safety Aaron Barrie captured Illini-Badger Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week after a stunning performance in action against Concordia University-Wisconsin last Saturday.
Barrie totaled 19 tackles, 11 solo and eight assisted, in Lakeland's 30-18 home loss to the Falcons at Taylor Field.
"Aaron had an outstanding game," said Lakeland head coach Jim Zebrowski. "He's a team captain and one of the hardest working kids on the team."
The Oostburg, Wis., native made the switch this season from running back to defensive safety and has a 28.5 tackles this season.
Barrie and his Lakeland (4-4, 4-1 IBFC) teammates will battle IBFC foe Concordia University Chicago on the road this Saturday at 1 p.m. in River Forest, Ill.
