Men's Volleyball Tallies Decisive Victory

The Lakeland College men's volleyball team cruised to a match victory over UW-Platteville in three games (30-14, 30-14, 30-20) in Wisconsin Volleyball Conference action on Sunday, Feb. 18, in Lakeland's Moose and Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
The Muskies (14-1, 4-0 WVC) were led on offense by junior middle hitter Avdo Omerbegovic, who tallied 11 kills and added three blocks, two digs and two aces. Fellow junior middle hitter Jared Rohland followed closely with 10 kills of his own and went for a team-high seven blocks, while senior outside hitter Matt Martin knocked down seven kills, hitting a stellar 87 percent, and tallied seven digs and two aces.
Overall, the home squad had a successful offensive game, knocking down close to 74 percent of their kill attempts in game one and registering a solid 57 percent for the match. Platteville falls to 3-4 for the season and in WVC play.
"I was really pleased with our first touch ball control," said head coach Chad Schreiber. "It allowed us to be very aggressive in transition."
The Muskies will be back in action this weekend at the Hoosier-Illini Classic in Bloomington, Ind. Match times TBA.
