Muskies Slip to 0-3 with Loss to UW-Oshkosh

The Lakeland Muskie football team's hopes for an upset of UW-Oskosh were quickly dashed as the Titans trounced the Muskies, 62-7, at Titan Field in Oshkosh on Saturday

After Lakeland (0-3) pulled within ten at 17-7 with 13:27 left in the second quarter, Oshkosh (3-0) rolled off 45 straight points to finish off the Muskies.

Oshkosh jumped out to an early 17-0 lead, but Lakeland came back, pulling within ten on a 37-yard TD pass from senior quarterback Brad Wilk to sophomore wide receiver Isiah Calhoun for the Muskies lone score of the game.

Once again this week the Muskies were unable to convert on third downs as they converted on just 3-of-16 attempts. The Titans on the other hand coverted on 12-of-19 attempts. The Titans were also able to shutdown the Muskies' running game, limiting them to just 59-yards rushing. Lakeland's defense gave up 579 yards to the powerful Titan offense which also factored into the loss.

Wilk ended the game with 143 yards passing, completing 11-of-26 passes, and rushed for another 29 yards. Sophomore running back Antonio Humphrey led the Muskies rushing effort with 29 yards on 12 carries, while senior wide receiver MacArthur White led the Muskies in receiving catching four passes for 55 yards.

Next week, the Muskies travel to Greenville, Ill. for their conference opener against Greenville, which the Muskies defeated 28-13 last year at Taylor Field. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
