The Lakeland College men's soccer team dropped its second non-conference game of the season to Robert Morris College, 2-1, in the closing day of the Greenville Tournament on Sunday in Greenville, Ill.
Although the Muskies (0-2) were first to score, as freshman forward James Trazile finished a play started by fellow freshman forward Casey Schmidt and sophomore defender Doua Vang, they were unable to answer two consecutive goals scored by Robert Morris.
"I thought we were the better team in that game," said head coach Dave Madsen. "We were doing well in the first half, but them we got ourselves in a few bad situations and unfortunately we lost our focus and it brought us down."
However, Madsen was also encouraged by what he saw in the game and looks forward to seeing continued progress among the members of his squad.
"I thought we played well and defended well overall," he said. "James had a very good, textbook goal, and we had a few opportunities to score but just didn't finish them."
The Muskies will have another chance to earn their first victory of the season on Sunday, Sept. 9, when they travel to Lawrence University for a non-conference match-up. Game time is set for 1 p.m. in Appleton, Wis.
