Muskies start conference play with win over Wisconsin Lutheran

Jon Bintner walked with the bases loaded to score Mike Gappa in the bottom of the seventh to put the Lakeland baseball team ahead for good in their victory over Wisconsin Lutheran Thursday afternoon.
They added four more runs in the bottom of the eighth to seal the game at 8-3, and Matt Andrews closed the game out in the ninth.
Doug Mogensen pitched eight strong innings for his first win of the season, giving up two earned runs on seven hits and striking out seven.
Brian Swanson went 2-5 with four RBI and one run scored to lead the Muskies.
Brent Hellpap had a wild outing for the Warriors, walking five. He also hit four batters and threw one wild pitch in 6.1 innings of work.
The game was Lakeland's conference opener. They continue play on Saturday when they travel to Milwaukee to face the Warriors for a noon doubleheader. They also play two on Sunday at home against Edgewood, also at noon.
