Three members of the Lakeland College softball team were honored Wednesday as the 2006-07 All-Northern Athletics Conference Awards were announced.
Freshman pitcher Sara Roberts (Escanaba, Mich./Escanaba) took top honors as NAC Rookie of the Year in addition she was named to the All-NAC team and All-Rookie team. Freshman second baseman KC Blahnik also was named to the All-NAC team and All-Rookie team. Junior outfielder Rebecca Schuettpelz (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) also was named All-NAC, while junior first baseman Allison Lock (Green Bay/Green Bay East) and junior third baseman Kourtney Peters (Mishicot/Mishicot) were named to the honorable mention team

Roberts, Blahnik, Schuettpelz and Peters all played instrumental roles in helping the team reach the NAC Tournament semifinals, where No. 2 seed Lakeland (27-12, 18-4 NAC) ended up finishing third in the NAC Tournament in Aurora, Ill. last weekend.
Roberts compiled a 19-7 record and 1.67 ERA in 29 appearances. She pitched a perfect game and two additional no-hitters in her debut season.
"Sara has done an awesome job leading the team on the mound all year," said head coach Chad Buchmann. "Every game she pitched like a senior that has done this for four years and that translated into a toughness that the team fed on. She tied a school record with 19 wins on the season, pitched no hitter's, pitched a perfect game and the conference recognized her as one of the best pitchers."

Blahnik, the other Muskie freshman to make All-NAC, also had a breakout year. The Gladstone native tied for third in the NAC with 23 runs scored, second in triples with four, and second in stolen bases with 20.
"KC brings pure athleticism to the team," said Buchmann. "She can hit for power, bunt for base hits and is the best base runner in the NAC. KC takes pride in everything she does. She's a weapon, is mentally tough and is team first."
Schuettpelz led the Muskies with 29 hits in NAC action. She also finished with the fifth highest batting average in the conference with a .446.

"Becca is offensive minded, loves to swing away and also had some clutch hits throughout the season," said Buchmann. "That was clear by how many multi hit games she had this year verses NAC opponents. Becca worked hard on defense also and she made some awesome catches in right field."
Lock also had a stellar season. The junior tied for first in homeruns in the NAC with six, was fifth on base percentage .500 and second in slugging percentage .872.
"Allison is a now a power hitter that can change the dynamics of a game with one swing of her bat," said Buchmann. "She is a complete player in that she is the best defensive first basemen in the NAC and is consistently putting a good swing on the ball."

Peters, also a junior finished the season fifth in the NAC in homeruns with five and tied for third in RBI with 24.
"Kourtney is the only third basemen in the NAC that can step up to the plate and hit a ball in either gaps or even over the fence," said Buchmann. She is very discipline before games and is harder on herself then I am on her. That translated into leadership for the younger players."
