Women's Tennis Loses to Wisconsin Lutheran

The Lakeland College women's tennis team played a tough match against Wisconsin Lutheran, ending in a 9-0 loss.

In the singles competition, Mariah Tess was defeated in her No. 3 match by Wisconsin Lutheran's Hannah Tullberg with a score in the first round of 6-2. In the second round, Tess worked hard and came close, yet lost only 6-4.  Shannon Censky of Wisconsin Lutheran won over Rae Schreiber in the No. 2 match with scores of 6-2 in both rounds.  Sakie Matsubara was up against Wisconsin Lutheran's Kara Spiegelhoff in the No. 1 match, and Matsubara lost with scores of 6-1 and 6-0.  Alycia Spriggs of Wisconsin Lutheran defeated Jacquelyn Love in the No. 4 match with a score of 6-0 in both rounds.  Tanya Droster and Amber Marshall of Wisconsin Lutheran won the No. 5 and No. 6 matches, respectively, by forfeit.

In the doubles competition, Wisconsin Lutheran's Shannon Censky and Kara Spiegelhoff won over Rae Schreiber and Sakie Matsubara in the No. 1 match with a score of 8-2.  Jacquelyn Love and Mariah Tess were defeated in their No. 2 match by Wisconsin Lutheran's Alycia Spriggs and Amber Marshall with a score of 8-0.  In the No. 3 match, Amber Marshall and Alycia Spriggs of Wisconsin Lutheran won by means of a forfeit from Lakeland. 

The Muskies will continue Northern Athletics Conference action on Tuesday, Sept. 11, against Concordia University, Wis. at 4:00 p.m.
