Senior wide receiver MacArthur White (Zion, Ill./Zion Benton) captured the first Illini-Badger Football Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors of the 2007 season after a stunning performance in action against University of Wisconsin-Whitewater last Saturday.

White scored on an 86-yard kick return for the touchdown, which was the lone score of the day for the Muskies against the two-time Division III national runner-up UW-Whitewater. He ran three kickoff returns for a total of 127 yards in the 41-7 loss to the Falcons.

"It's a great honor for Mac to earn the award," said Lakeland head coach Kevin Doherty. "Especially earning it for just one single kick-off return."

Last season, White was an honorable mention All-Region North honoree, co-IBFC Receiver of the Year and first team all-conference. He was picked No. 1 on the IBFC coaches' Preseason Top 10 Players to Watch list.

White led the league in receptions and receiving yards per game in 2006, averaging 5.7 receptions for an average of 73.8 yards per game last season. He was also fourth in the conference in all-purpose yards, averaging 103.3 per game. White, who was honorable mention all-IBFC his sophomore season, also earned IBFC Offensive Player of the Week honors once last season.

White and his Lakeland (0-1, 0-0 IBFC) teammates will battle Carthage College on the road this Saturday at 7 p.m. in Kenosha, Wis.
