The Lakeland College women's volleyball team (3-5, 2-0 NAC) dropped both of its matches in the first day of action at the UW-La Crosse Tournament in La Crosse, Wis.
Although the Muskies took the second game vs. La Crosse, 30-28, they were defeated in the other three games, 30-17, 30-17 and 30-13 for the 3-1 loss. The squad also dropped all three of its matches to St. Thomas (Minn.), with scores of 30-19, 30-23, 30-24.
Senior outside hitter Ashley Domask led the charge on offense against La Crosse with a team-high 10 kills, while also chipping in 12 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Brittanie Paulus headed up the defense with 20 digs and came in second for kills with nine, while sophomore defensive specialist Tonia Strebelinski tallied 19 digs.
Paulus continued to put up big numbers in the squad's loss to St. Thomas, leading the team in kills and digs with 14 and 18 respectively. Domask also continued strong efforts wtih 12 kills and 11 digs, while Strebelinski recorded 17 digs. Freshman setter Kristine Raeder also saw court time with 33 assists and 13 digs.
The Muskies will continue tournament play in La Crosse tomorrow with Illinois Wesleyan at 10 a.m. and Carthage College at 12 p.m.
