Newcomers Look to Provide Men's Volleyball Team with Fresh Talent

Athletics - posted on 9/28/2007

The Lakeland College men's volleyball team has six new additions for the upcoming 2008 volleyball season who will look to bring depth and new talents to a team that finished as the runner-up at the NIRSA National Tournament last season.

Among the newcomers are freshman middle blockers Beau Bradshaw (Oak Lawn, Ill./HS) and Chris Kubacki (Vernon Hills, Ill./HS), outside hitter Marco Grgic (Glenbrook, Ill./Glenbrook South), right side hitter Kevin Casey (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove North) and setter Brian Valenti (Chicago Ridge, Ill./Richards). Sophomore transfer Perry Ringfelt (Elwood, Ill./HS) also joins the Muskies at outside hitter after attending Joliet Junior College last year.

Bradshaw and Kubacki will provide Lakeland with some talented height in the middle, as they stand at 6-6 and 6-4, respectively. Both have experience at the club level, as Bradshaw was a member of the Ultimate Volleyball Club for several years while Kubacki played for the Naperville Volleyball Club. Kubacki also brings versatility, as he can also play outside or right side hitter.

Grgic and Ringfelt will also bring power to the Muskies attack, both listed at 6-1, as Grgic played four years of high school and club volleyball for Sky High and Excel Elite, while Ringfelt gained experience with the Ultimate Volleyball Club.

Casey, who will become the tallest member of the squad's roster at 6-9, and Valenti each have four years of high school volleyball experience to their credit.
