Steinert wins weekly LMC honors again

Lakeland senior Renee Steinert, a center from Howards Grove and a Sheboygan Lutheran High School graduate, has been named Lake Michigan Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Steinert, the preseason LMC Player of the Year, helped the Muskies go 2-0 last week in wins over Silver Lake College and LMC foe Concordia University. In a 91-36 rout of Silver Lake, Steinert had 13 points, six assists and four rebounds in only 20 minutes of playing time.
Steinert then tore it up in a 71-62 overtime win over Concordia as she had 24 points, 18 rebounds, four assists and four blocks. For the week she averaged 18.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.0 blocks per game while shooting 50 percent (14-of-28) from the field.
Steinert shared the weekly award with Marian junior forward Chelsea Borgrud.
Lakeland has a pair of LMC road games this week at Wisconsin Lutheran on Tuesday and at Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday.
