The Lakeland College women's volleyball team was ranked No. 8 in the Midwest Region, as the NCAA's weekly regional rankings were announced Wednesday, Oct. 24.
The Muskies (19-11) are having a solid season, most recently concluding the regular season portion of their Northern Athletics Conference schedule with a perfect 12-0 record and the program's first regular season NAC title.
Lakeland was rated No. 7 the first two weeks of the regional rankings. This is just the second time in school history the Muskies have appeared in the regional rankings.
Lakeland returns to competition this weekend at the UW-Whitewater Tournament, and will face tough competition with other regionally-ranked opponents, including UW-Oshkosh (No. 3) and UW-Platteville (No. 6). Oshkosh is ranked ninth in the nation, and another UW-W Tournament opponent, Stevens Institute (Hoboken, N.J.), holds the No. 17 spot in the national Top 25 poll.
The Muskies kick off tournament play at Whitewater on Friday, Oct. 26, with Platteville at 1 p.m., followed by Oshkosh at 5 p.m.
Lakeland will also host a quarterfinal match of the NAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed, beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 30, against No. 8 Edgewood College. Match time is set for 7 p.m. in Lakeland's Moose and Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
