Senior MacArthur White and junior John Wagner earned top individuals awards and a total of 22 players were honored as the Illini-Badger Football Conference announced its final all-IBFC team.
White, a wide receiver from Zion, Ill., was named IBFC Outstanding Receiver, and Wagner, a linebacker from Kewaunee, was named IBFC Outstanding Linebacker.
White, who earlier this week was named the first Lakeland player in program history to play in the Aztec Bowl in December, led the IBFC in catches and receiving yards per game, and was third in the nation in average kickoff return yards. He was co-Outstanding Receiver last season, and this year broke Lakeland's career receiving yards record.
Wagner led the IBFC in tackles per game and was ranked 10th in the nation on solo tackles per game.
First-year Lakeland head coach Kevin Doherty was co-IBFC Coach of the Year with Concordia, Wis., head coach Jeff Gabrielsen.
Seniors Josh Schramm (Cuba City) and Craig Van Dera (Kaukauna) were both named to the Academic All-IBFC team, which honors juniors and seniors who have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.
White and Wagner were
joined by three teammates as first team all-IBFC honorees. Schramm, a defensive back, senior offensive lineman Joe Puhl (Ontonagon, Mich.) and junior wide receiver Matt Pawlyk (Marinette) were also named first team. Puhl, White and Wagner are repeat first team honorees from last season, and the three were joined by Schramm in earning IBFC accolades in 2005.
Lakeland had seven players who earned second team honors:
Senior offensive lineman Tom Kelly (Oak Lawn, Ill.), senior running back Paul Resop (Appleton), senior quarterback Brad Wilk (Roselle, Ill.), junior defensive lineman Stephan Johnson (Evanston, Ill.), junior linebacker Brent Miller (Menasha), junior punter Billy Hughes (Brooksville, Fla.) and sophomore wide receiver Jacob Heinemeyer (Schiocton). It's the third IBFC honor for Miller, and the second for Wilk, Johnson, Hughes and Heinemeyer.
Ten Lakeland players were named honorable mention honorees:
Senior offensive lineman Josh Labelle (Negaunee, Mich.), senior defensive lineman Kevin Hildebrand (Lemont, Ill.), senior linebacker Phil Sims (Kansas City, Kan.), senior defensive back Cleveland Pierce (Zion, Ill.), junior running back Brent Woodruff (Logansport, Ind.), junior defensive lineman Mike Nerat (Menominee, Mich.), sophomore defensive back Jake Schnetzer (Menasha), sophomore offensive lineman Ben Stellmacher (Waukesha), freshman tight end Traves Robinson-Worthington (Zion, Ill.)and freshman defensive back Keith Woodson (Evanston, Ill.).
