Herriges and Higgs finish first and second in high jump in meet

The Lakeland College track and field team competed in the NAC Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship at Carthage in Kenosha on Friday, Feb. 29, and there were some great successes for individuals on the team.
Luke Herriges placed first for the men in the high jump, jumping 1.88 m. Julius Higgs followed with a second place finish in the event. Higgs also contributed positively when he finished seventh in the 400 meter dash, with a final time of 54.30.
Ben Lombardi also had a successful fourth place finish in the 55 meter dash, finishing with a time of 6.78.
Maggie Short and Jacqui Drexler helped out the team in the 55 meter dash for the women, finishing sixth and seventh with times of 8.23 and 8.66, respectively.
Amy Christenson had a successful sixth place finish when she competed in the 400 meter dash, with a final time of 1:05.27.
Other men who helped contribute to the team were Trent Torzewski, Jake Frisch, Brent Woodruff, Jake Schnetzler, Mike Muhs, Andy Buffington, and Matt Stuebs. Other women who assisted in the meet were Hailey Wisner and Gina Weiss.
The team will continue with its first outdoor meet of the season at Wisconsin Lutheran in Milwaukee, Wis. on March 29.
