Rain Limits Baseball to One Game vs. Lawrence for Loss

Athletics - posted on 4/8/2008

The Lakeland College baseball team fell to Lawrence University, 7-3, in non-conference play on Tuesday, April 8, in game one of its planned doubleheader in Appleton, Wis. While game one was completed, game two was suspended in the second inning due to poor weather conditions.

Freshman Bill Miller suffered the loss, giving up three hits with six walks and four strikeouts.

The Muskies (5-11 overall) found themselves deadlocked in a 0-0 tie with the Vikings for the first three innings, but Lawrence's offense registered seven runs in the fourth inning to take a considerable lead.

A double by sophomore Jacob Heinemeyer and an RBI single by junior Adam Brown helped the Muskies tally their first run of the game in the fifth inning. Lakeland would put two more runs on the board in the seventh, thanks in part to a two-RBI double by freshman Dave Novak, but it wasn't enough to pull ahead.

The Muskies will return to NAC play on Saturday, April 12, with a doubleheader at Rockford College. Game start time is set for 12 p.m. in Rockford, Ill.
