Lakeland College volleyball coach Chad Schreiber has been named chair of the NCAA Division III Volleyball Committee.
Schreiber was elected to serve as chair for two years beginning this September at the NCAA Division III volleyball annual meeting in Indianapolis. The committee is charged with overseeing the Division III volleyball season, highlighted by the selection of the teams and site locations for the NCAA Tournament.
“This is a nice honor for our entire program and what we have accomplished here,” said Schreiber, who recently completed his 10th season as women’s volleyball coach at Lakeland. “It’s a sign that Lakeland continues to make a mark on the Division III volleyball scene on a national level.”
Lakeland’s women’s volleyball program is 190-154 during Schreiber’s tenure, including a 87-26 mark in Lake Michigan Conference play. The Muskies have made three straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament and won four straight Lake Michigan Conference titles.
The Muskies finished 12-0 in LMC play in 2002, becoming the first team in conference history to win every game of every conference match. The program has had seven consecutive 20-win seasons, and has won the National Team Award for Academic Excellence five times.
Schreiber founded Lakeland’s men's club volleyball team in his second season here and led the Muskies to national prominence by winning conference and state championships in the program's second year. The Muskies have been ranked in the top 25 for five straight seasons, including three straight Top 10 finishes and a national runner-up finish in 2003.
Prior to Lakeland, Schreiber coached collegiately as an assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan in 1990 and 1991. From 1993-95 he served at the UW-Oshkosh as assistant coach for women's volleyball, and head coach for men's club volleyball from 1994-95.
A Sheboygan Falls native, Schreiber currently resides in Plymouth with wife Stephanie, daughter Logan and twins Cameron and Carter. He graduated in 1995 from UW-Oshkosh with a sports management degree, and in 1999 he received his master of education from Lakeland.
