The Lakeland baseball team struggled through a Lake Michigan Conference doubleheader, dropping both games to Edgewood, 16-5 and 11-5, on Sunday afternoon.

Brian Swanson lasted only 3.2 innings at the mound for Lakeland in the first game, allowing 10 runs, nine of them earned, on 12 hits.

Eagle catcher Shawn Burcum went 3-5 in the game with two doubles, two RBI, and two runs scored to lead Edgewood to victory.

In the second game, Brett Anschutz took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, leading 4-1, before Edgewood finally busted through, knocking Anschutz out of the game without an out recorded in the inning. The lone run came off of a throwing error in the fifth.

12 Eagles came to bat in the inning, and seven of them scored before Matt Andrews got Burcum to fly out to center to end the inning.

The Muskies couldn't recover, scoring only once more the rest of the game.

Lakeland next travels to Madison to face these Eagles on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
