Slow start dooms Muskies in 4-0 loss at UW-Whitewater
Athletics - posted on 9/6/2008
The Lakeland men's soccer team surrendered two goals just over 15 minutes into the game en route to a 4-0 non-conference loss Saturday to UW-Whitewater at Fiskum Field in Whitewater.
The Muskies played a much better second half, but were in too much of a hole to make a serious push.
"We got off to a flat start in the first half," Lakeland head coach David Madsen said. "We were able to sustain some pressure in the second half. If we had gotten off to a quicker start, that would have been a much different game."
Freshman goalkeeper Matt Durbin (Itasca, Ill.) had eight saves for the Muskies (0-2). UW-Whitewater moves to 2-0-1 on the season.
Lakeland will travel to Concordia University Chicago next Saturday (Sept. 13) for its first Northern Athletic Conference match of the season.
