The Lakeland men's soccer team recorded its sixth straight victory on Sunday afternoon with a 13-3 drubbing of Finlandia University (0-12 overall) in a non-conference match at Hancock, Mich.

The Muskies (7-4, 5-1 Northern Athletics Conference) wore down the Lions with strong team play, posting 11 assists out of 13 goals.

"The guys really came out focused," Lakeland head coach David Madsen said. "There was a lot of unselfish play, and our guys worked hard throughout the match even with the margin of victory."

Junior forward Ted Cormier (Green Bay) and junior midfielder Ryan Malo (Beach Park, Ill.) led the way with three goals and three assists apiece. Both tied the Lakeland record for most assists in one game by an individual.

Cormier now leads the team with 13 goals on the season, while Malo leads the Muskies with six assists.

In the current six-match winning streak, the Muskies have outscored opponents 35-12 after posting just 10 goals in their first five contests of the season.

"The players are developing confidence both individually and with each other," Madsen said. "We have a nice combination of young talent and experience from our older players. It has been really fun to watch because they have come to practice and come to games with so much energy."

The Muskies will look to keep it rolling on Tuesday in a 3:30 p.m. match with Marian University at Lakeland.
