Freshman forward Lindsay Rogers (Sheboygan) scored two goals in her collegiate debut to lead the Lakeland women's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Northland Baptist Bible College in a non-conference match at Dunbar, Wis.
Rogers notched the opening goal in the first half and found the back of the net again for the final score of the contest. Freshman midfielder Kristina Borts (Greenfield) also scored in the first half to put Lakeland (1-0) ahead 2-0 on the Pioneers (0-1).
"We really came out strong right away," Lakeland head coach David Madsen said. "We had a lot of early possessions on their end and finally broke through for a couple goals at the end of the half."
The second half was all Muskies, as junior midfielder Jessica Hopfinger (Hustiford) and sophomore forward Maria Santelli (Kenosha) tallied a goal apiece before Rogers struck for the final margin.
"The girls really worked hard for each other," Madsen said. "They really moved off the ball well and I am pleased with their effort."
