Injury-depleted Muskies fall to Warhawks 5-0
Athletics - posted on 9/6/2008
With four players out due to injury, the short-handed Lakeland women's soccer team fought hard but was defeated 5-0 to UW-Whitewater on Saturday afternoon in Whitewater.
The Warhawks (2-1) scored four times in the first half, leaving the Muskies unable to recover despite playing well in the seoond.
"In the first half, we gave away a couple goals, and I thought we could have been better in holding them," Lakeland head coach David Madsen said. "We made a few small defensive adjustments in the second half, played harder and were much better."
The Muskies (2-2) mustered just six total shots to the Warhawks' 21 in the contest.
Lakeland returns home this Thursday to take on St. Norbert. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
