Muskies roll 5-0 on Senior Day
Athletics - posted on 10/25/2008
The Lakeland women's soccer team received contributions from all over the field on Saturday in a 5-0 victory over Benedictine University on Senior Day at Lakeland.

Senior defender Megan Andrews (Appleton) posted her first collegiate goal in the 84th minute to cap an impressive win for the Muskies (9-9, 5-6 Northern Athletics Conference).
"In addition to Megan's goal, the defense really deserves a lot of credit for the shut-out," Lakeland head coach David Madsen said. "Benedictine never really threatened for a goal after we took the early lead."
Goalkeepers Leslie Oskey (Howards Grove) and Whitney England (Ashwaubenon) combined to keep the Eagles (5-10, 4-7) blank in the scoring column.
Freshman forward Lindsay Rogers (Sheboygan) scored the first two goals of the contest in an 8-minute span to put the Muskies ahead 2-0 just over halfway through the first half.
"Lindsay's really been working hard, and she's had a lot of frustration recently because she hasn't been able to score," Madsen said. "This game is really good for her confidence."
Freshman midfielder/defender Brittney Smit (St. Cloud) and senior midfielder Amy Christenson (Dodgeville) also found the back of the net for the Muskies.
Christenson, Andrews, defender Jacqui Drexler (Appleton), forward Megan Stock (Libertyville, Ill.) and midfielder Maggie Short (Green Bay) were honored at halftime as part of the Senior Day festivities. Each player received a framed action photo and team picture, as well as recognition of career statistics and achievements.
The Muskies host Marian University this Wednesday at 3 p.m. in their final regular season match of the season.
